Romance reader, spreadsheet slayer, and founder of Hearts on Fire Books.
Sami first fell for romance somewhere between the pages of Twilight—and while her Team Edward allegiance still holds strong, it was the genre’s heart, heat, and depth that kept her coming back for more. Since then, she’s fallen hard for the tropes, sub-genres, and wildly passionate fandoms that make romance one of the most expansive, joyful genres out there.
Originally from Boise, Sami made her way back home after nearly a decade in Boston where she earned her degree from Boston University, cut her teeth in public accounting, and snagged a master's in taxation. But somewhere between hedge fund compliance and tax code updates, she realized her heart was elsewhere—namely, with fictional couples falling in love in increasingly dramatic ways.
What started as a “someday” idea tossed around with friends eventually became something real: a cozy, community-centered bookstore dedicated entirely to romance. Sami founded Hearts on Fire Books to celebrate the genre that’s brought her so much joy—and to build a space for other curious romantics to discover, discuss, and devour love stories of all kinds.
Her goal? To create a gathering place where connection is the main character, passion is always welcome, and no one ever has to apologize for what they read.
